Frank Foster was a celebrated tenor saxophonist and arranger, most famously associated with the Count Basie Orchestra. His arranging style, prominent from the 1950s onwards, was characterized by its driving swing, blues-infused melodies, and intelligent use of sectional interplay, extending Basie's legacy while adding a contemporary edge.
