Frank Foster was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and arranger, best known for his work with the Count Basie Orchestra. He joined Basie's band in 1953 and contributed many compositions and arrangements, becoming its leader after Basie's death. Foster was a significant figure in jazz education and continued to perform and compose throughout his life.
