Canadian trombonist, composer, and arranger, Ian McDougall (1938–2026), was a prominent figure in jazz and popular music from the mid-20th century onwards. His extensive career included work with the Boss Brass, countless studio sessions, and a significant body of original compositions and arrangements for big bands and smaller ensembles. McDougall's lyrical playing and sophisticated writing earned him a reputation as one of Canada's most respected jazz musicians.
