American composer and pianist Edwin Finckel (1917–2001) was a significant figure in jazz and popular music from the 1940s onwards. He was renowned for his work as an arranger and orchestrator, contributing to numerous big bands and vocalists, and also composed extensively for television and film. Finckel's innovative harmonic language and sophisticated arrangements left a lasting impact on the sound of mid-20th century American music.
