American composer and lyricist Buddy DeSylva (1895–1950) was a prominent figure in Tin Pan Alley and Broadway during the early 20th century. He penned numerous popular songs, often collaborating with George Gershwin and Jerome Kern, and contributed to several successful musicals and films. His work helped define the sound of American popular music in the 1920s and 30s.
