Clarence Williams was an American jazz pianist, composer, promoter, and music publisher. He was a pivotal figure in early jazz, known for his prolific songwriting and his role in establishing some of the first African American-owned music publishing companies. Williams's compositions were recorded by many prominent jazz artists of his time.
