American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger Mike Abene, born in 1942, is renowned for his extensive work in big band jazz. A prolific contributor to the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, he has also composed and arranged for numerous other prominent ensembles and artists throughout his career.
