Mario Bauzá was a Cuban jazz trumpeter, arranger, and composer, widely considered one of the fathers of Afro-Cuban jazz. He was instrumental in introducing Cuban rhythms to the American jazz scene, particularly through his work with Machito and His Afro-Cubans. His innovative arrangements and compositions blended traditional Cuban music with big band jazz.
