American lyricist and songwriter Kal Mann (1917–2001) was a significant figure in early rock and roll and popular music. He co-wrote numerous hits, notably "Teddy Bear" for Elvis Presley and "Let's Twist Again" for Chubby Checker, which became an international sensation. Mann's contributions helped define the sound of the late 1950s and early 1960s.
