An American lyricist, Joseph McCarthy (1908–1957) was a significant contributor to popular music during the mid-20th century. He is best known for his collaborations with composer Harry Tierney, creating numerous hit songs for Broadway shows and films. His work helped define the sound of American popular song during the Golden Age of Hollywood.
