Johnny Mercer was an American lyricist, songwriter, and singer, known for his witty and sophisticated lyrics. He co-founded Capitol Records and wrote lyrics for over 1,500 songs, many of which became jazz and pop standards. Mercer won four Academy Awards for Best Original Song.
