Irving Mills was an American music publisher, lyricist, and jazz impresario. He was instrumental in the careers of many jazz legends, most notably Duke Ellington, for whom he served as manager and co-writer on numerous compositions. Mills also led his own bands, including the 'Mills Blue Rhythm Band,' and founded the Mills Music publishing company.
