Ira Gershwin was an American lyricist who collaborated with his younger brother, composer George Gershwin, to create some of the most enduring songs of the 20th century. His witty and sophisticated lyrics were integral to their Broadway musicals and films. He continued to write lyrics for other composers after George's death.
