An American jazz saxophonist and composer, Hank Mobley (1930–1986) was a prominent figure in the hard bop era. Known for his soulful, melodic playing and lyrical improvisations, he contributed significantly to the Blue Note Records sound, recording numerous influential albums as a leader and sideman. His compositions and distinctive tenor saxophone voice helped define the genre's aesthetic throughout the 1950s and 60s.
