George Frideric Handel was a German-born British Baroque composer, famous for his operas, oratorios, anthems, and organ concertos. He spent the bulk of his career in London, becoming a British subject in 1727. His most famous work, the oratorio Messiah, is among the most well-known and frequently performed choral works in Western music.
