Bob Crosby (1913-1993) was an American jazz bandleader and vocalist, prominent during the Swing Era. Younger brother of Bing Crosby, he led the Bob Crosby Orchestra, also known as the "Bob Cats," from 1935 to 1942. His band was celebrated for its Dixieland-influenced swing style, emphasizing hot, improvisational solos and a strong rhythmic drive. Crosby's orchestra was instrumental in popularizing traditional jazz elements within the big band format, contributing significantly to the genre's evolution. Notable hits included "South Rampart Street Parade" and "Big Noise from Winnetka," solidifying his legacy as a key figure in 20th-century American jazz.
