Malagueña (B.Holman & B.Curnow) Edited Version

This is the "Edited Version" of Bill Holman's legendary Malagueña arrangement, as recorded by the Stan Kenton Orchestra on "Adventures in Jazz," further refined by Bob Curnow for Sierra Music Publications. This 91-page package includes a full conductor score (19 pages) and all 18 individual parts. The arrangement transforms Ernesto Lecuona's Spanish classic into a dramatic multi-section showpiece featuring tempo changes from Maestoso (♩=74) through increasingly faster sections to a driving Fast Latin (♩=170) and Swing feel. Notable features include: Trumpet 5 doubling Flugelhorn, a featured Solo Trombone (Trombone 1), an extended Bass solo with arco and pizzicato passages, a Tenor Saxophone 1 solo section, and extensive use of cup and straight mutes throughout the brass.
